PT. Bara Jaya Utama(BJU)was established in 2001 and began the project with exploration in its 2,000 hectares coal concession area in Tanjung Redep-Berau Regency, East Kalimantan - Indonesia. This concession area has a total mineable coal reserve of 40 mio tons. BJU began its pilot strip mining in July 2004 and has the projected annual capacity about 2 mio. Ton.

Through a 2 km long hauling road is the mined coal brought to the Coal Handling Facilities. The crushed coal from the Stockpile is then being loaded to the Barge at Jetty via a 100 m long ship loader conveyor.
The Loading Anchorage is positioned at Muara Pantai, Berau Offshore, that is about 60 miles from the loading Jetty.
